wedding dresses for older brides

If not for Lavada Julian Jones' intrepid work in keeping this 70-plus-year-old news, it would not be available to us. I found this little jewel while browsing through the treasure chest of saved articles, last night. I am sure you all will enjoy it, and Lonnie Dale Gibson Jr. , could you please print this out, and see to it that Welton has a copy? Sandra Sutton .

Horner-Huggins Wedding
(From December, 1940)
Last Friday night, December 19, just before the Senior B. T. U. Party, Miss Mary Edith Horner and Welton Huggins were married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Burgess. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Horner and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Huggins. The couple were attended by Miss Mary Nell Eubanks and M. L. McCormack. The single ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Bowling, pastor of The Arbyrd Baptist Church. Mrs. Huggins was dressed in blue trimmed with gold, and had brown accessories. Miss Eubanks wore a dusty blue dress with black accessories. The wedding was kept secret until later in the evening when small cards were presented each guest with the announcement of the wedding. Following the B. T. U. party, refreshments were served to the guests. The refreshments carried out the wedding theme. The bride cut the first piece of wedding cake and then retired in favor of Miss Eubanks who served the guests. Miss Lawanda Roark presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Huggins is a senior at Arbyrd High School and plans to complete the present year. Welton Huggins was graduated last May from the Arbyrd High School and is now employed at the Back Pharmacy at Cardwell. Those present at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. George Huggins and daughter, Georgia Rose, G.W. Adams, Violet Stevens, Mrs. Bowling, and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Burgess. wedding dresses for older brides
